On the Go with iPad Mini: Everyday Bag Choices

🇩🇪

Which basic bags are suitable for iPad mini (6) (*)? Today I share my research with you.

The reason

I am currently toying with the idea of replacing my aging iPad Pro with the current iPad mini (6th generation).

Planned uses for the mini are an eBook reader and a digital bullet journal.

For those who don’t know about bullet journaling, I highly recommend Ryder Carroll’s method (*). I will write another article about it. Analog notebooks are classic. I still use them, but I am preparing a digital version. When it is ready, I will of course introduce it. What I like about digital journaling is that you can now search your handwritten notes with many notebook apps like Goodnotes & Co. And it’s easier to make corrections if you make a mistake.

A bullet journal is really only valuable if you keep it with you at all times. To jot down ideas, look things up, etc.

That means I need a case for the iPad mini so I can always have it with me. Since September 2022 I have been using and loving the Fjällräven High Coast Pocket (*), a small shoulder bag for mobile phone, wallet, etc. and it is close to perfect. However, the dimensions of the bag and the iPad mini do not match.

So I did a little research on the topic “bag for iPad mini”. Besides two reddit posts

I didn’t really find much. The bags mentioned didn’t really appeal to me.

So I searched Google and various online outdoor stores myself and want to share my findings with you today.

My requirements

  1. Objective: The dimensions of the bag must be larger than the dimensions of the iPad Mini. The latter is 134.8 mm wide, 195.4 mm long and 6.3 mm thin. The Apple Pencil adds another 10 mm to the width, so we would be at a width of about 145 mm.
  2. Subjective: The bag should be as simple as possible or dark and inconspicuous.

Possible candidates

Below are the various bags that, according to the specifications on the websites, meet my two previously defined requirements. If it is not already clear, I would like to point out that I am still in the planning phase and have not yet held any of the cases in my hands. Therefore, I cannot guarantee that the iPad mini will fit with the Apple Pencil.

Conclusion

My gut instinct is to go with the Pusher BAG from GOT BAG. First because it looks pretty cool and second because GOT BAG is trying to make the oceans cleaner with recycled materials. As soon as I try them out, I’ll update this article.

If you’ve already tried one of the bags, I’d love to hear about your experience. Also, if you use another case for your iPad mini, please let me know so I can add it to the list.
